It’s January again.…resolution time…first on the list? Lose
weight and get into shape. Learning how to eat healthy meals and exercising
regularly is the healthiest way to accomplish these goals. Where can you go for
advice and companionship to bolster your courage and resolve in the Route
7 Report
area?
You could join a group of women who exercise three times a week at the Coolville United Methodist Church. They pop in a video and exercise as they share stories and laugh at themselves (as some evenings they seem to have grown two left feet!). If you would enjoy a fun, non-judgmental atmosphere where there is a lot of room in the back row, join them Mondays 7:30 p.m. for Yoga or Pilates, Tuesdays 10:30 a.m. for slower paced tapes perfect for seniors and beginners, and Thursdays 7:30 p.m. for Aerobics. All sessions last one hour, bring a bottle of water, hand weights, and a towel or mat for floor exercises. For additional information call Lisa Justus at 667-6031 or Roxanna Rupe at 667-3354. If you are interested in a more formal setting, you could join Solutions. Solutions, a fitness club for women, is located behind the Coolville Clinic in the old Head Start Building. Members work through a 30 minute circuit training routine in which members spend 40 seconds per station alternating between weight and cardiovascular exercises with at least four minutes of stretching after the workout. Exercisers of any age and fitness level will benefit from this routine. Owner Rhonda Stone recommends that members work out at least three times a week to gain the best results. “Our members have lost up to 65 pounds each since we have opened”, she states. A treadmill, stability ball and rebounders (mini trampoline) also are available for Solutions customers. A tanning bed may be available in the future. Solutions is open Mondays 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays thru Thursdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The club is closed on Sundays. A variety of contracts are offered and a one-time membership fee of $49 is required. A special rate on the membership fee of $24.50 will be available through January. For further information call 667-0399. If there are other options for fitness in the area, please let us know at the Route 7 Report and we will post them on our Web site. |
